Problemi 3200 gt

good evening, I have a Maserati 3200 GT, for a week I had the problem of the check engine light and the car was in trouble, on Saturday evening while I was stopped at the traffic light the car accelerated on its own, given that the throttle body has been serviced, the diagnosis turns out to be the potentiometer. What do you think?

Hi Gianmarco.

Can you read the error codes at all?

The most likely cause of the engine revving up is actually the throttle body as the magnet starts breaking up and the flap sticks in position https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UUmoJtlQwU I would check for this first.

Its possible this is a pedal sensor issue but it has two outputs which should prevent the engine revving because of a faulty pedal sensor. If the two outputs have been wired together then its possible.

Reading the error codes would help you determine the likely cause.

having migrated from 2 TVR's into the 3200 i very much felt it was a lot less likely to kill me that either of the TVR's. With the traction control off yes i think they are a handful, too much power in anything but ideal road conditions, but the traction control is extremely good if a little conservative on some occasions, and also the traction control is reduced a bit in sport mode which helps a bit if you are in the mood. I do not think the 3200 is a car that is prone to spinning or skidding, generally very well behaved and will often surprise you when pushing the car.

3200 gear box

3200gt, 35000 miles clutch done at 20000 miles and it manual. Have noticed that when the gearbox is hot it is difficult to get into reverse, also 1 to 2nd is slow and occasionally a bit crunchy. Oil is new. Is the answer 1/. They all do that sir, 2/. Change oil type - what for?, 3/. Get the box rebuilt.

Check for a worn clutch master to pedal bush inside the car.
